Miss Walsh Maths is a family-centred private maths tuition business offering a range of bespoke services to meet your mathematical goals. Sessions can be arranged at my home, at your home or in convenient community areas. Enquiries regarding price and the type of tuition you are looking for are welcomed.
MY BACKGROUND
After graduating from Durham University with a first class degree, I decided to train to become a maths teacher. I enjoyed two successful placements at two outstanding high schools culminating in me qualifying as an outstanding teacher of mathematics (QTS) and attaining a distinction in my PGCE. I was offered my first job as a qualified teacher in one of the schools I trained in and there I went on to pass my NQT year with flying colours.
From there, I got into tutoring almost by accident. A broken foot towards the end of my NQT year meant I was unable to fulfil my usual role teaching full classes and so I took on a temporary role working with individual students and/or smaller groups of students to boost their progress and confidence in maths. I found this a thoroughly rewarding and worthwhile experience and the positive impact it had on the students I worked with, not only in terms of their mathematical competency but also in terms of their attitude towards maths, was clear to see.
I feel that teaching on a smaller scale allows me to capitalise on my strengths: attention to detail and ability to build effective working relationships with students which, in turn, ensures that I am able to maximise their potential. Hence I have decided to pursue a career in tutoring.
I am currently enjoying working on a freelance basis as a specialist maths tutor in a high school which is part of an outstanding trust of academies. This means I am fully up to speed with the new 9-1 GCSE curriculum. Alongside this, I am now seeking to extend my tutoring services through Miss Walsh Maths to offer sessions outside of school hours. I am very excited about this new venture and I have every confidence that Miss Walsh Maths will go on to positively transform clients' experiences of maths and ensure that they achieve their mathspirations.

Miss Walsh Maths will ensure you have a sound grasp of all the basic concepts and skills needed to be successful as you approach the GCSE years.

Whatever your mathspiration, Miss Walsh Maths is here to ensure you reach it! I have up-to-date experience of teaching the new 9 - 1 GCSE specification meaning I can create personalised lessons to meet your needs and make sure you are fully prepared for your exams.

Whether you are resitting your maths GCSE or have to pass a maths professional skills test in order to obtain a place on a teacher training course, Miss Walsh Maths can provide you with the knowledge and skills you will need to be successful.
